Le Minor dolls : the exhibit

The exhibit shows the dolls produced by Le Minor, a French company that used to be specialized in regional dolls and still in activity selling decorative items in Pont-l'Abbé. The dolls presented come from the Musée de la Poupée and Mrs Anne Libouban's collections.

Most of the dolls dressed by Le Minor come from Petitcollin, but also Nobel, Jumeau, SFBJ, Huard or Clélia. In addition to the mignonnettes wearing regional outfits, Le Minor also dressed dolls and babies in various sizes.




Le Minor first dressed dolls wearing the numerous costumes from Brittany than from other French regions and finally a selection of foreign outfits

This type of dolls has been very sucessful mostly when the paied holidays were created in France in 1936. The holiday makers used to bring back a doll wearing the costume of the region they were visiting and collected them along their trips.

Today, these dolls are collectible items. As a matter of fact they have an irresistible old fashion charm and give an incredible testimony of the richness of French regional costumes.
